Undergraduate Education: Pomona College Major: Neuroscience Hometown: Los Angeles, California Position: Lab Manager Nia left (an unfortunately) stable employment at one of LA’s COVID-19 testing centers to join the Murphy lab in August 2020 as the new lab technician. She is a veteran in the research sphere, having messed around with both human and rodent brains throughout her undergraduate career at Pomona College. Nia is surprised to learn that neurons are not the only cell type of interest, but she is excited to work in what is truly a dream area of research and to make her five-year-old self proud! You can often find Nia lying on street getting the perfect angle for a photo, or at a jam session attempting to play the guitar and sing at the same time, or in the kitchen whipping up the best fried rice you’ll ever eat.
