Sam joined the Murphy lab in August of 2023, following his graduation from UVM in the spring.
As an undergraduate, he conducted research in Dr. Ellen Martinsen’s lab where his senior
thesis focused on emerging and expanding tick borne pathogens in Vermont. He is currently
finalizing a publication from that project. In the Murphy Lab, Sam works with PhD student Todd
Dowrey on the aging and longevity study.
Outside the CReM, Sam enjoys a plethora of sports and can often be found at Fenway watching
the Red Sox. On weekends, Sam often travels home to cook lobsters at catered clambakes or
serve President Obama dinner at a local restaurant.
